Perched upon a balcony in the middle of the Medina, smoke is billowing from the stalls below, the lights twinkle along the alleyways with lanterns hang- this is Marrakesh. A market where the locals and the tourist converge to shop, take in the sights, and to catch a glimpse of the snake charmers luring snakes out of baskets. It is easy to get lost in the winding alleyways, with each curve taking you deeper and deeper in the chaos that is the market, a maze of sorts. Each turn you feast your eyes on the glow of lanterns, soft leather bags hanging from the ceiling, as you rush past the motorcycle zooming in and out of the crowds. Be sure to watch out for kittens taking a leisurely nap in baskets in every nook and cranny. Each corner of the medina has a little surprise, a courtyard filled with brass antiques, or a small nook that hang the most vivid, colorful dyed yarn drying above as you walk past vats of dye. It is hard not to fall in love with Marrakesh, simply from the Medina alone- I know I did.

Just found your site on a pop up ad in the NYTimes. Am totally delighted. Your photos are exquisite . I am a painter so I am getting to see places through your eyes.
Happy travels,
Anne
